Here Are 11 Pains We Treat

Years of research has documented the effectiveness of chiropractic physical medicine in relieving pain. In fact, The Journal of the American Medical Association released new guidelines that encourages chiropractic before surgery.

Dr. Daniel Richter

Our chiropractic therapies will help you feel better quickly. Throughout the years I have helped hundreds of patients suffering from the various pains for which I list below.

Back Pain | Back Muscle Spasms

To relieve back pain and inflammation, we gently align spinal bones to relieve spinal joint pressure, pinched nerves and disc bulges. Next, low current therapy blocks back pain by activating the same receptors in the brain and spinal cord that are targeted by pain-relieving drugs, without the side effects.

Then, additional therapy relieves your back pain by stimulating your nerve cells’ use of oxygen, which accelerates healing and boosts the analgesic effects.

To reduce back muscle spasms, reciprocal inhibition muscle therapy is used which applies a nerve reflex on one side of the low back to relieve tight and contracted muscles on the other side.

Further manual muscle therapy relieves back pain based on the gate theory of pain control which blocks the pain signals from the muscles to the brain.

Finally, to increase your low back range of motion, we use a protocol of spinal manipulations to increase the strength of your back.

Neck Pain | Neck Muscle Spasms

Our neck pain therapies aim to relieve pain immediately. Then, we work to increase joint mobility and your ability to move your neck pain free.

Depending on your situation, one therapy we offer dampens the activity of inflammatory proteins called cytokines which cause pain.

A second therapy for neck pain relieves tender trigger points or small patches of knotted muscles in the neck.

A third type of therapy called “Active Therapy” for the neck increases your strength thereby decreasing your likelihood of suffering further neck spasms.

Arthritis

Our therapy for arthritis uses mild impulses of current to block nerve conduction and pain signals due to inflammation.

Another therapy we use for arthritis accelerates the healing of inflamed nerve cells. Yet another therapy includes a reflex nerve block.

Sciatica

therapy increases the flexibility of your sciatic nerve…

I have a concern with sciatica: too many people try prescription analgesics, muscle relaxants or steroids before considering chiropractic care.

When sciatica pain is masked with drugs, the actual cause of the sciatic nerve irritation is left unresolved. Thus, you heal wrong. Continue to ignore it and you will suffer a permanent injury – surgery becoming the final option.

The simple truth is that our chiropractic therapy increases the flexibility of your sciatic nerve which decreases the likelihood of you suffering a permanent injury.

Herniated Disc | Bulging Disc

We gently, manually open the disc space to relieve the pressure

There are actually two types of pain that comes from a herniated disc/ bulging disc: pinched nerve pain and disc pain.

Pinched nerve pain. When a patient has a symptomatic herniated disc, the disc itself is not painful, but rather the material that is leaking out of the inside of the disc is pinching or irritating a nearby nerve.

Disc pain. When a patient has a symptomatic degenerated disc (one that causes low back pain and/or leg pain), it is the disc space itself that is painful and the source of pain.

Our chiropractic therapies help to increase spinal disc space thereby facilitating joint mobility. We gently, manually open the disc space to relieve pressure using a chiropractic adjustment. Our goal is to restore the joint’s normal motion pattern. All of our herniated disc therapies are safe, effective, and gentle. Patients frequently doze off.

Carpal Tunnel

we relieve painful trigger points within the belly of the thumb

Chiropractic physical medicine relieves carpal tunnel syndrome by gently moving and opening the 8 carpal tunnel bones in the wrist whereby relieving the nerve pressure and pain.

Adding low current therapy can block your carpal tunnel pain signal by stimulating the same receptors in the brain and spinal cord that are targeted by pain-relieving drugs but without the side effects.

Extra muscle therapy we offer for carpal tunnel relieves painful trigger points within the belly of the thumb and hand muscles which are often painful as a result of carpal tunnel.

Shoulder Pain

Chiropractic therapy for shoulder pain involves aligning the bone structure of the shoulder, neck and spine through various spinal manipulations.

We offer 3 categories of therapies to relieve shoulder pain. They will help your body naturally heal, restore proper circulation to the affected area, decrease pain and inflammation, and increase joint flexibility and range of motion.

Knee | Foot Pain

Through manual chiropractic adjustments, we can reduce tension on the muscles, ligaments, tendons and nerves which cause pain in the knee and foot. Bringing the bones and joints into alignment reduces inflammation and helps the body heal naturally, speeding the time for recovery and allowing you to return to normal daily activities sooner than without the adjustments.

The joint of the knee is an intricate design made up of three bones of the tibia (shin), patella (kneecap) and the femur. A tendon underlies the kneecap to give strength and motion to the knee and cartilage secures the femur to the shin bone. The meniscus cushions the femur and shin (tibia) bones.

Without appropriate care to help the knee heal properly, long-term nerve tendon and ligament damage can result. Also, if the knee is not functioning properly, other joints and areas such as the hip, lower back and ankle are also affected.

The foot is an elaborate arrangement of 26 small bones and 33 joints, layered with tendons, ligaments and muscles to facilitate movement of the foot. When the bones of the foot become misaligned due to injury or overuse, nerves become irritated and connective tissue becomes inflamed, causing pain to the foot and surrounding areas.

Numbness

In a healthy body, your nervous system transmits signals smoothly from your spinal column into your peripheral hands and feet. But what happens if a pinched nerve or restricted blood supply dulls the signal your fingers and toes are getting? This causes numbness along the way.

Chiropractic therapy for numbness involves removing nerve signal blockages in the body. It is really about treating the nervous system – the core of this system being the spine.

Dozing Off…

All of our therapies are so safe, effective, and gentle that patients often doze off while on our therapies. That’s OK.

And even though I listed 11 pains, you don’t need to worry about identifying with any. Just come in for a physical exam and I’ll take care of the rest. Yes, as soon as possible! I want to help you feel better quickly.
